“I first met Dan when he was offering test sessions through the Teesdale Cycling Club in Barnard Castle. Seemed like a good idea a day before my 45th birthday. Dan took me through my first ever FTP test, and provided a useful commentary on where I was at fitness wise (not very) and my pedalling stroke (unique).  All good.

Moving forward to the New Year, the FTP test experience made me think about my fitness in general and how (at the age of 45) I could make the most of the limited time I have available, in between family and a pretty busy job. I turned to Dan who, once I had decided upon some specific goals for 2016, has worked with me to provide a structured training programme, with the general aim of providing maximum impact for a relatively limited amount of time. To date, this has involved a wide range of different sessions on the turbo trainer. In the past I’ve always wondered what to do / got bored pretty quickly on a trainer but with Dan’s input these sessions are anything but boring, and the feedback from the sessions is immensely motivational.

After 4 weeks, I find myself fitter, happier at work and less overweight, but still am getting used to being called an ‘athlete’! To sum up, coaching can benefit a huge spectrum of individuals, from busy family men like myself to full time athletes. If you don’t think coaching is for you, think again!….”
